Obituary

Lorna Rae Steward, 76, of LeGrand, Iowa died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at her home. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation for Lorna will be held from 5:00 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June, 19, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where her family will be present to greet friends. Lorna was born November 18, 1935, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Kenneth and Lucille Marie (Hardigan) Jorgensen. Lornas family moved throughout their childhood years and Lorna went on to graduate from the Wiesbaden High School in Wiesbden Germany. She met the love of her life, Lyle Deloss Steward, while in Germany and they were later married on October 9, 1935, at the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. They made their home in Marshalltown for a short time before settling in Ferguson, Iowa, where she raised their family. Lorna also worked for Marshall Instruments for a short time.Lorna enjoyed crocheting for fundraisers, making afghans and quilts, playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right on television, dancing with her husband Lyle, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Lorna spent many days watching and cheering on her kids and grandchildren at their many sporting activities.Lorna is survived by her loving children: Pamela Rae (Wendell) Steward-Graham of Marshalltown, Bruce Delos (Deb) Steward of Muncie, Indiana, Kimberly Lu Steward of Ferguson, Iowa, Margaret Ann (John) Rausch of Marysville, Ohio, Deloss Lyle (Jody) Steward of Marshalltown and Wade Ray (Fern) Steward of LeGrand, Iowa, her fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, her siblings: Mary (Jack) Grote of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Sandy (Dick) Gregor of Angelo, Texas, Ken (Phyllis) Jorgensen of Muskegan, Michigan, and Don (Diane) Jorgensen of Oahu, Hawaii. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle and her sister Charlotte.

The Steward house in Ferguson was busy and FUN as a kid. I have alot of fond memories of Lyle and Lorna. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother but I find alot of comfort knowing your parents are reunited! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. -Doug and Sandi

We were sadden to hear of Lorna passing so many great memories with her n ur dad with JD n Elaine card games our softball tournament in Ferguson we still have the blanket she crocheted Denny n all the times she used to take Denny to school because he missed the bus....
