Dearest Betty, I am so saddened to hear about Frank. You know you two have meant so much to me over the years - through family illnesses and deaths, and I remember when you came over and gave me a shot when I was deathly sick with the flu. There was never a time that you two didn't show up at the time of my greatest need, and just know my love and prayers are with you and your precious family at this time. I remember your's and Frank's visits when I was in Tampa - those were some fun times!! The love you and Frank shared will live in your heart forever, I would love to see those precious grandchildren. Give my love to Sam and Casey. We need to have a long get together when you're up to it. Love and hugs, my sweet friend.

I am
very sad to learn of Frank's passing. He was a big brother and dear
friend to me in the 80's. His home was always open to anyone that
needed healing, friendship and a place to lay one's head. I will always
hold that time in my life and the part Frank played very near and dear.

Frank and I became friends during his residency at Carraway Methodist. When I left for Viet Nam in 1970 his was the last hand I shook, he was there when I came back. We were in and out of each others lives for the next 40+ years, but like all real friends the separations were mere pauses in a constant connection that spanned the years. I will miss him deeply.

What can I say? I worked for Dr. McArthur for 10+ years and he was the kindest, most compassionate generous, and most unique person I have known. There was no one like him. I was privileged to see so many things he did for others, but wanted no credit and did not want other people to know. I shared so many happy and funny moments with he, Betty and Harley. I love them all so much. Harley was really a part of their family and mine. I will miss talking to him and hearing "Frank McArthur here". Even after I did not work for him, we kept in touch and I feel that I have lost one of my best friends. I will truly miss him, but will never forget him. Gail Roskamp

Stunned sympathy at the passing of my brother-in-law. I remain grateful for the care he provided my mother at her passing in 1980.

Frank
was also my best friend and we shared a lot of memories throughout the
years. Frank and I were great friends in high school. We always hung
out together, double dated, drank beer together, drove cars and
generally got into mischief. Our friendship continued through the
years, primarily at the high school reunions. Frank loved to talk about
high school and the good ole days we had. "Frank, if you can hear me
now, you are going to be sorely missed by me and all your friends and
family. I salute you for all your generosity and caring. Thank you for
being my friend, as I will always remember you and the times we had
together."

I met Dr Frank & Nurse Betty when I bartended @ the Half Shell Raw Bar in KW in the mid 90's. They both loved giant stone crab claws & asked me to call them in Birmingham when we would get a particularly ginormous batch in, & they'd fly in their private plane to come eat them. This was before cell phones were commonly owned. When the next big batch came in, I phoned them from the pay phone to inform them of their advent. About 5 hrs later, they walked in behind a 4' batch of flowers they had brought me, telling me they had asked several other people to give them a call when the "Colossals" came in, & I was the only 1 to do so...this was the start of a wonderful, giving friendship. Dr Frank would help anyone, anytime, never turned down a plea for help. His brilliance, generosity of spirit & sense of humor were boundless & legendary. The love Frank & Betty had for each other was the stuff of romance novellas. He was truly "larger than Life" on so many levels, this Earth is a poorer place without him & his untimely passing is a loss for all who had the profound privelege of knowing him.
