REDD, RONALD P., Englewood, FL --
In 1977, Ron experienced his first major heart attack at the very young
age of 33. At that time, doctors gave him a life expectancy of five
years. Thirty years later, he was still beating the odds until Christmas
Day. On December 25, 2007, at age 64, his heart finally gave out and
Ron experienced the true gift of Christmas when the Lord took him home
to Heaven. Born in Denison, Texas in 1943, to Howard and Etta (Ramey)
Redd, Ron was raised around the world as the son of a career Air Force
Airman. After graduating from H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden,
Germany, he married Barbara Carol Pierce, his high school sweetheart who
preceded him in death in 1998. A Vietnam Veteran who served as an Army
Aviator, he retired from the US Postal Service after eighteen years of
service. Having remarried in 2005 to Jerry Lynn Dunlap, another high
school classmate, he moved to the west coast of Florida where he beg an
his dream job in retirement as a bridge tender on the Intercoastal
Waterway. Ron was a life force who impacted everyone he met. We take
comfort in the knowledge that through his family, he lives on in legacy,
a legacy that he was surely proud of and a legacy he can once again
share with the mother of his children. Ron is survived by his wife,
Jerry Lynn of Englewood, Florida; his mother, Etta L. Redd of Orlando,
Florida; his daughter, Julie R. Scott of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his
son, Ronald P. Redd, II and his wife, Melinda of Mount Dora, Florida;
his son, Michael H. Redd and his wife, Roni Kaye of Charlotte, North
Carolina; his step-daughter, Susan Shannon and her husband, Ryan, of
Denver, Colorado; his step-daughter, Chrissy Shaw and her husband, Mark
of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren, Meagen Scott, Christopher
Pounders, Hannah Redd, Gunnar Redd, Gavin Redd, Kaley Redd; four
step-grandchildren, Jack Shannon, Casey Shannon, Griffin Shaw, Leo Shaw
and one great-grandchild,
Aurora Scott-Moss. Visitation will be
held on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 3-6PM at Harden-Pauli Funeral
Home in Eustis, Florida. Services will be held on Monday, December 31,
2007 at 11AM at First Baptist Church, Eustis, Florida with interment
