AYER -- Damon E.
Bostick, 51, of Shelton, CT, formerly of Ayer, died unexpectedly Friday,
October 21, 2016, at Griffin Hospital, Derby, Connecticut.
Damon
Bostick was a loving husband and father and was known by those he
served with in the United States Army as a top notch pilot and mentor,
having routinely performed at the top of his flight classes and
assisting in training others.
Damon was born in Dayton, Ohio on
August 6, 1965, the son of Robert A. Bostick Sr. and Sylvia C. (Peters)
Smith and was a 1983 graduate of Ayer High School in Ayer,
Massachusetts. He continued his education at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology in Cambridge before receiving both his Bachelor's and
Master's Degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona
Beach, Florida where he majored in Aeronautical Science. He later
attended the United States Navy Test Pilot School, Class # 119, in
Patuxent River, Maryland.
For over 20 years, Mr. Bostick served
his country in the United States Army, serving in several conflicts and
eventually earning the honor of becoming an experimental test pilot,
retiring in April 2008 at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. During
his career in the United States Army, he moved frequently and was
stationed in Fort Rucker and Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, Wiesbaden,
Germany, Fort Drum, NY, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii and Patuxent River
NAS, Maryland.
Following his retirement from the armed forces,
Mr. Bostick was the owner/operator of Avis Car Rental Offices in
Newington and West Hartford, Connecticut. He attended St. Lawrence
Church in Shelton.
Mr. Bostick leaves his loving wife of 29
years, Lisa J. (Jordan) Bostick; a son, Samuel J. Bostick of Shelton,
CT; his father and stepmother, Robert and Barbara Bostick Sr. of Dayton,
Ohio; his mother and stepfather, Sylvia C. Smith and her husband,
Retired Colonel Delmar L. Corbin of Ellenwood, Georgia; a brother,
Robert A. Bostick Jr of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Robin C. (Dixon) Jones of
New Orleans, LA; three stepbrothers, Steve Corbin of VA, Stanley
Corbin, Kenneth Corbin of Atlanta, GA and a stepsister, DeLise Corbin of
Atlanta, GA; and his brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Kristine
Jordan of Fitchburg, MA, his sister-in-law Lea A. Jordan of Huntsville,
AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
BOSTICK -- Calling hours will
be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 2nd at the
Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer. Burial will be in
Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia at a date to be later
determined.
