I remember meeting Amanda for the first time as her nurse manager. I loved her
beautiful smile and eagerness to help others. We had times we clashed but always
worked it out. That is what I loved the most about Amanda, the willingness to hear
the other side of the story. We managed to stay in touch through Emily and my
granddaughter Page who are best friends. I wasn't around for her during her first
battle with cancer, only found out about it when she finished her chemo. I was so
surprised to learn it had come back. I tried to be there for her as much as necessary,
trying to give her the quiet times she needed and supplying the macaroni and cheese
when she craved it. My only wish is that I could have been there the night she died. I
was fortunate to spend some quiet time with her in the hospital and I am so glad we
did. I hope she knows I would have been there for her that night, but wanted to give
her the moments with her family. Derek and Emily, I'm here if ever you need me.

Love to all of you!
