POWELL, Kelly Christina Kelly Christina Powell, born July 16, 1974
at Fort Knox, KY, returned her energy to the universe on Monday, June
5, 2017. Her incredible smile and loving kindness blessed her family and
friends for 42 years on this earth. She never met a stranger and truly
believed that love and God's Grace could remove all the worries of this
world. Kelly was the "Ultimate Warrior," courageously battling Stage IV
Metastatic Breast Cancer for more than seven years. Her fight brought
awareness to this disease and inspired her family, precious friends, and
angelic care givers to give their all in this fight as well. Kelly was
an "Army Brat," following her parents, COL (Retired) John Pack and Joyce
Morris Pack, all over the world. She chose Texas over all other places
she had lived, probably because she met the love of her life, Michael
Powell, at Killeen High School in 1991. She enjoyed her time in Killeen
as she loved to dance as a member of the Killeen Kangarettes and met so
many lifelong friends. She and Michael later attended North Texas State
University together and earned their Bachelor's degrees. On November 1,
2003, Kelly and Michael committed their love and lives to each other in
the eyes of God at the First Baptist Church of Salado. Kelly and Michael
lived in Plano, TX until 2012 when they moved to the Austin area,
ultimately deciding on Cedar Park in 2013. Her hobbies and interests
included her husband's love and gift for making music, concerts (Tool,
Dave Matthews Band, and Bjork top the list), all types of dancing,
snorkeling, butterflies, sea turtles, whales, and frogs. She loved
travel excursions that included numerous cruises and visits to her
favorite places. Kelly was always easy to spot cheering on her Denver
Broncos. Most of all, she enjoyed loving and playing with the many
precious children of family and friends, who adored her in return. Kelly
is survived by her loving husband, Michael Powell of Cedar Park; her
parents John and Joyce Pack of Salado, TX; her father- and
mother-in-law, A.T. and Cheryl Powell also of Salado; her sister- and
brother-in-law, Wendy and Todd Cook, and nephew Charlie, of Dallas.
Kelly is also survived by Grandma Lewis, several uncles, aunts, extended
family, and countless close and endearing friends. Kelly was preceded
in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, several aunts and
uncles, a nephew Trevor Cook, and a cousin Barry Lee Pack. "Smile, be
nice, keep your friends close forever, make new friends as often as
possible, breathe, look around and enjoy it, you don't want to miss it."
Kelly Powell Per Kelly's wishes, "A Warrior's Celebration of Life" will
be planned for a future date to enjoy time together and celebrate her
life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations directly to the World
Wildlife Fund, Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC), the National Breast
Cancer Coalition (NBCC), or your local animal rescue center.
